The goal was to build a conference table from locally reclaimed wood and allow it to retain as much of it's rustic beauty as possible.
Guides are attached to the log to allow for a straight and level cut.
The next step is to restack the planks with spacers and place them into the kiln to reduce the moisture content to 7%. This prevents the wood from warping and checking (cracking) after it is used in the final product.

After being removed from the Kiln the wood is resawn to relieve stress and surface sanded to create a straight and level surface.
Now the planks are laid out on a bench and final cutting and assembly is planned.
Slots are created in the edges of each plank to allow for "biscuits" to be inserted and strengthen the glue joint.
The top begins to take shape. The base is cut and glued in much the same way and the final table is assembled. Natural voids in the wood are filled with epoxy to provide a smooth surface and yet preserve the natural beauty of the wood.
The table is finished and polished to a satin finish, ready for delivery.
Finally the original log tag is replaced on the table.
