Wood From The Hood reclaims a Silver Maple from historic Matthews Park and recycles it into products for sale at this year's Kings Fair.

Thanks for coming to see us at the 2009 King's Fair on September12th. We sold products made from the Silver Maple Tree that was removed from the park last spring due to damage to the tree that made it a liability to the people that frequent the park.

All Grown UpThe tree started it's life around 1916 and has provided shelter to wildlife and shade to park patrons over it's 93 year life.

During a storm, the tree was damaged and insects were allowed to enter the trunk along with natural rot, until the tree was deemed a liability by the park board.

While walking the park, Rick and Cindy saw the marked tree and contacted the park board about reclaiming the tree.

Now Wood From The Hood would like to see the tree continue it's usefulness. We designed a collection of special products, made from the wood of this tree, and sold them to the public at this year's King's Fair using the proceeds from these products to plant a new tree during the fair.

If you did not get a chance to see or purchase any of these great items, some stock is still available and for sale at the Seward Co-op in Minneapolis.
