Frequently asked questions.

Q. Is it OK to use diseased wood such as Dutch Elm or other trees that have died do to disease?

A. Yes! Our tree removal services and our sawmill both know the correct way to handle diseased trees so as to not infect others. In general, the core of the tree is not infected and it is only a matter of removing the bark and a small amount of surface wood to make the tree useable.

Q. I have a large tree that is dying or is down. I don't need any wood but I would like to see this tree live on. What can I do?

A. The best way to handle it is to call a certified tree harvester and tell them that you would like to donate the wood to Wood From The Hood. They will give you a competitive quotation for the removal of the tree and they will cut it so as to be "mill ready" and deliver it to our yard.  Certified tree removal services can be found on our "Contact" page.
